The Last Motorship is a poignant and poetic road movie that explores the real lives of people in the Kola North. The filmmakers travel to remote villages along the coasts of the Barents and White Seas, where the towns and settlements of this harsh region grow emptier each year. Many northerners leave their hard-to-reach homes for better opportunities on the mainland. Yet, a number of people remain in the North, so deeply rooted in the land that they will never leave. At the same time, there are those who journey to this nearly depopulated, distant land in search of a place to call home.
